Artwork for the Liz Sleichter Benefit

Several weeks ago, KTVMi was approached by the coordinator of the Liz Sleichter Benefit about possiblity creating a poster for the event.  They goal was to attract a younger crowd that may not have been associated with Liz and her family, but may be interested in seeing/hearing some great live music.  The turn around was quick, but the poster turned out great.  There were hundreds of these posters hanging around all over downtown Iowa City.  The event took place this saturday and was a great success.  Hundreds of local companies donated goods, over 300 people attended the shows, and it was an all around great time.

I'd like to thank the other persons at KTVMi for donating their time and energy into making this poster.  What was also great is that it was even turned into a T-Shirt that was worn by all the persons putting on the benefit.

More About KTVMi
KTVMi is a New York based animation and technology studio.  For 15 years we have created some of the coolest content on the web - integrated campaigns for Johnson & Johnson, full enterprise level websites for Gallery Stock and Readers Digest, Video Capture booths for VH1 and Trojan, animations for MTV and Showtimes Dexter, iPhone applications for Hornitos Tequila and expandable banner ad's for AT&T. We truly are all things to all people.

Every 12-18 months the face of the internet changes and the technology requirements of business on the web evolves in ways that clients don't have the time or resources to manage; from both the back end code and front end interface design, it's our job to grow and keep our clients current and competitive, no matter their size or shape. And since we're artists at heart, we've simultaneously grown a 2D and 3D animation team to service our itch to make cool stuff.

The Original Broke Down Screen of The Franken Mac

I just found this image of the original broken screen, which reminded me that i missed that damage when i listed all that the Franken Mac has been through.

1.Shattered screen
2. Motherboard drenched by martini and then a snapple
3. Second screen burnt through by a candle
4. Hard drive fried
5. Dropped on a concrete floor and second hard drive fails

It is still breathing! not sure if this is a story line i should pursue to much, cause then I am wishing more bad things on my mac. Enough for now, though i havent posted the creation pics... will save it for now.

The Return of Franken Mac!

The Franken Mac is back! This is an actual image of the Franken Mac, I'll find a pic of the creation of it later. This mac has been spilt on, set fire to, dropped on concrete, is the child of 2 macs and is on it's 3rd hard drive! And it lives!!

I wonder how many more years it will survive... Might have to replace the motherboard and build a new custom case for it... but then wont it be a whole new computer? What percentage of the parts have to originate from its inception for it to still be deemed itself? These are the questions... but where are the jokes...?!

Dropped the Franken Mac

The mac that wont die. The Franken Mac. Some of you may remember having seen me around town with it. The half white/half black hybrid mac that should not exist. Well, I dropped it on a concrete floor last night, not at Concrete .The first two incidents did happen there so it is kind of ironic in a literary way.

So the effect of the drop is that the hard drive is br-oke. We just got a new one for it, but it's the third hard drive for the franken mac. Miranda is our in-house mac mad scientist who will be performing the operation. If necessary we may have to call the Genius Who Cannot Be Named, all hail him for real. We'll see, hopefully we own have to call in that big gun. I dont have a readily accessible photo of the actual monster mac. I'll find one for a later post and let you know how the weekend surgery goes. That will be a good post to regale you with the tale of how the Franken Mac came to be...

(the image I used for this blog post is of the burnt screen, which is actually its second screen!)

Shoe Dog

I need new shoes, but it's more like new shoes need me. They're just sitting there whimpering and crying out, "Josh… Josh… I feel so empty… I need to feel your feet inside me. All the way inside me. And all laced up tight." How can i turn away a pair of shoes so lonely, so open, so wanton? What if i don't want to own them? Can I just use the new shoes for a little while, maybe walk em around a few times and then give them to someone else who has a similar shoe size as me… i'll have to ask permission first. But can you really trust the shoes? Even if they say it's ok for em to use them just for a while, they'll probably be lying. They all want a real pair of feet to love them and break them in permanently. I may have to lie. Become a Shoe Dog. Wear them and throw them away and never look back. I can do that. I just wont tell anyone. No one but you. OK? So don't say anything and there wont be any problems. I'll call you later and tell you how it goes.

KTVMi blog day one :)

For our first blog entry, i'm a little stumped.  Should I write about something techie that we're all interested in… like how to convince all our clients to use svg and jquery and to abandon flash because bowing down to the red and delicious god head is the easy option of the latest 18 month internet cycle… or should I blog about our new favorite pub, Popeye's on main street. $5 jager bombs, perfect. Hardcore shows, loud and amazing. Disgusting toilets, keeping it real! Or should I blog about one of my favorite obscure conspiracy theories, atmosphere sylphs? or murderous chemtrails? or maybe the secret Bildeburgers…? Maybe later… for now...  Welcome to our blog!
