When Pepsi was ready to launch the newest Pepsi brand, Pepsi Max, they needed an engaging identity that would become part of the consumers’ day-to-day lives. KTVMi, working in close partnership with the Youniverse.com social networking site, created the perfect solution. Integrated into the social network, a branded front-end delivered a desktop widget designed around the core interest of the Pepsi Max brand -- Soccer!
Media Matters: By using international football stars, we were able to make Pepsiyouniverse.com fun and engaging. KTVMi created a downloadable desktop widget that allowed Pepsi to have their brand live on the users computer. Accomplishing a great marriage of media and utility, we used widely accepted sports RSS feeds and channeled them into one easy reader for sports fans.
Technology Assessment: A significant factor in the Pepsiyouniverse.com creation process was to understand the technology issues surrounding launching a global brand. Pepsiyouniverse.com interfaces with a myriad of technologies and systems. Firstly, the users of Pepsiyouniverse.com needed to be able to effectively download a new application in the form of a widget. Then the delivery mechanism of that widget needed to be seamlessly integrated with youniverse.com, a fledgling social networking site that is growing in popularity across Europe. KTVMi was also instrumental in cataloguing and distributing the assets of pepsiyouniverse.com globally. It was our task to support and train marketing efforts and rebranding efforts globally. This was a uniquely challenging assignment. With AS3, Adobe Air, and XML as the technological touchstones for this site, we were solely responsible for overseeing the rollout process.
